Quality Assurance Manager

JOB TITLE:  Quality Assurance Manager



 

 

BASIC FUNCTION: 

 

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Provide the leadership for the entire organization to improve the quality of the product and help our plant to meet the expectations of the customer in quality and delivery.Lead the problem solving efforts through providing the tools necessary for an organized approach:Train and provide support for root cause analysis.Maintain the corrective action system of documentation for the root cause analysis.Manage the projects related to the corrective actions to bring to closure and follow up audits.Develop the strategic direction and vision for the Quality Assurance organization.  Take the steps necessary to ensure the results from the vision are realized.Supports the production activities by ensuring that the customer expectations are met.Leads the final inspection activities.Leads the PIA process to ensure that the inspection process is successful.Develops methods to attack the causes of the defects found during the inspection process.Implements proactive methods of detecting defects at the source rather than simply relying on an outgoing inspection process.Develops processes which encourage and increase the use of the operators doing their own inspection.Directs the efforts to improve the quality of the raw materials we are purchasing:Develops supplier quality assurance standards that are quantifiable and reportable.Works closely with suppliers to bring their overall quality to within acceptable standards.Aids purchasing in the process of replacing poor suppliers and finding qualified new ones.Lead the ISO 9000 registration efforts through an organized approach to the required processes and procedures.Key contact during audits.Ensure the procedures in place fit with the culture and are in use.Leads the efforts to introduce lean manufacturing principles and total quality management by implementing the thought process throughout the quality organization.Actively participates as a member of the Lead Team by demonstrating leadership in all areas in the manufacturing plant.Demonstrates the ability to provide independent thought and improvement actions that will be beneficial to the entire organization.Active participation on process and design improvement teams.Demonstrates the ability to see the overall cost picture and thus can improve quality to the customer as well as reducing the manufacturing costs.Shows active leadership on the manufacturing floor towards improving the processes.

?  Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.

?  Formulates and maintains quality control objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.

?  Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures.

?  Interprets quality assurance philosophy to key personnel in organization.

?  Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs..

?  Designs and implements quality control training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.

?  Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.

?  Other duties as assigned MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

?  Bachelors degree in related field.  B.S. in a technical field preferred.

?  Experience in an automotive-type quality system.

?  Familiar with Lean Manufacturing principles and demonstrates support for those principles.

?  CQE Certification preferred.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Up to 7 direct reports with others reporting into the organization.
