Quality Control

Volvo Powertrain is the Strategic Centre for powertrain issues in the Volvo Group. The scope covers complete powertrain systems, components such as engines, transmissions and driven axles, including development, manufacturing, sourcing, partnership, installation service and support in close co-operation with the customers. Volvo Powertrain has operations in Sweden, France and North- and South America.

Reports to Manager, Quality Assurance

General The purpose of this job is to plan, implement, and manage quality systems and processes which will generate continuous improvement for the VPTNA manufacturing product quality.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

Coordinate the implementation/upgrade and continued maintenance of the ISO9001:2000 based Quality Management System, with primary focus in Manufacturing, to include:

?  Advice on requirements of the standards

?  Participation in internal audits and continuous improvement activities

?  Creation of training materials to educate employees in Quality Tools

?  Reports to Manufacturing management on the status of identified Quality Management System issues, including assistance in the semi-annual Management Meeting

?  Assist the Management Representative in maintaining ISO9001 registration for VPTNAManage Core Quality support for new programs, including Process and Design FMEA?s, equipment buyoff?s, new parts inspection plans, engine audit capability preparation, and active project team participation.Manage the K-test and CoP test activitiesManage the Manufacturing Staff Quality Improvement Team meetings and follow-up. Oversee Clean Engine activities.

Skills & Knowledge

 

PC based and mainframe computer literacy, strong knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines, knowledge of ISO9001:2000, strong working knowledge of quality tools

Effective oral and written communication skills.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

 

Bachelor?s degree in engineering or related business field.

Minimum of 4 years experience in the development and/or maintenance of a total ISO 9001 Quality Management System including active auditing experience.
Minimum 5 years varied experience in an industrial manufacturing situation.
Job-specific project management experience

Heavy truck knowledge/experience preferred.
