Job Description

In this position the incumbent will develop the expertise needed to perform the full range of Quality support services typically offered at the Laboratory. Quality specialists and engineers focus primarily on supporting line or project managers and project teams in identifying applicable quality requirements, planning and developing quality programs, and helping customers implement and maintain the programs. The staff member in this position is in training and receives work from more senior staff or the cognizant manager.? Major challenges involve learning the full range of quality processes, tools, and techniques and developing contacts with potential customers.? The staff member also must become familiar with applicable Lab policies and procedures, the assigned project(s), and customer expectations.? This is accomplished through good communication and analytical skills, sensitivity to organizational needs, and a high degree of personal organizational ability.? Under supervision and with a high degree of initiative, the incumbent performs a wide variety of quality assurance or quality control tasks as defined by client requirements. For example, the procurement organization uses Quality staff expertise to assure that quality requirements are being met relative to the products and services acquired at the Laboratory. Among other job assignments, the successful candidate will be actively involved in support of the Procurement organization.
Work is prioritized and completed within guidance provided from more senior engineers or from the managers and project staff this position will support.? Actions are interfaced and coordinated with Quality engineering mentors. This position reports? to the QAS Manager.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of experience or advanced degree.? Intermediate position.? Augments theoretical knowledge with practical applications and working knowledge.? Knowledgeable in a primary discipline or subject area.
The position requires the staff member to have prior experience with implementing quality concepts, terminology, and methodologies; knowledge of general business administration; familiarity with quality processes, tools, and techniques; organizational and problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal skills; and good verbal and written communication skills.
