R&D ENGINEER

Puritan Bennett seeks to hire a Reliability Engineer.
Responsibilities include:
Evaluate failure data using statistics and other tools and utilize the data to generate a reliability growth plan for new or existing electro-mechanical or disposable medical device.
Use reliability models to establish reliability targets and requirements, and to predict failure rates from a system level, down to the mechanical component level.
Apply Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) / Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to determine reliability mitigations and Critical to Quality (CTQ) components.
Apply Six Sigma, design of experiments (DOE) and other statistical techniques to ensure robustness of the product.
Guide the implementation of design rules, such as component derating, etc., in a project / product.
Prepare and execute a reliability test plan, including the generation of a reliability test report. Test plan can include Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) / Highly Accelerated Stress Testing (HASS), accelerated life testing, packaging and shipping test and other techniques that predict failures.
Design, build and validate reliability test fixtures.
Conducts reliability reviews of product / subassemblies periodically, and reports on the reliability status of the system / subassembly to the reliability lead and / or project lead.
Assist suppliers of components / subassemblies in increasing reliability of the products.


Requirements:

Requirement include:
BS with 2 to 4 years experience in reliability engineer as applied to mechanical systems.
Or MS with 0 to 2 years relevant experience.
Shows excellent problem solving skill, especially in root cause analysis. Adept is applying statistical analysis to collected data
Familiar with Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Highly Accelerated Stress Testing (HASS)
Familiar statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), Design for Six Sigma techniques and other reliability tools.
Participated in FMEA / FMECA on prior products.
Able to work in a team environment, and matrix organization.
Good oral and written communication skills
Desired:
oReliability Engineer Certification by American Society for Quality (ASQ)
oExperience with medical devices.
