R&D Researcher - DIRECT POSITION - DIESEL ENGINE DEVELOPMENT

Responsible for the test and development of product and component designs. May exercise technical direction over a small group of engineers and technicians.

*Plans and executes major test programs
*Designs unique fixturing and data reduction systems
*Coordinates test objectives with requesting design engineer
*Assures installation and effectiveness of test fixtures and data gathering systems
*Uses analytical techniques to confirm physical data gathered from test
*Implements more sophisticated measurement systems, including use of computer-aided devices and similar equipment
*Interprets and analyzes data from test to assure validity of results
*Develops product ideas and proposes improvements in designs
*Maintains regular communication with originator of test requests
*Writes complex test procedures and reports
*Assists in the training and development of engineers and technicians
*Regular contact with others outside the workgroup
*Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project *Coordinates input from internal/external customers

Qualifications
*High level of analytical ability
*Wide knowledge of functions and characteristics of the product
*Ability to use sophisticated data systems
*Oral/written communication skills to communicate complicated material before, during and after test program is initiated
*Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required

Education
MS REQUIRED (Mechanical, no EE's please) or PhD with thesis on engine development

Preferred:
Experience with combustion research and development
Familiarity with dynamometer systems and computer-based data acquisition and analysis
Experience with diesel engine development
