Currently, Progress Lighting has an opening for an experienced Recessed Lighting Product Designer to join our Marketing Team.

 

The Recessed Lighting Product Designer has the primary responsibility for new product development project execution and management of recessed and linear fluorescent residential and commercial lighting fixtures.  The position requires support of project scope and conceptual development for the product manager through such tasks as marketing research, competitive product evaluation and benchmarking, understanding and application of related legislation and/or product standards, and estimates for capital investment.  A key element of this position is the ability to understand the requirements as defined in the project scope and developing product accordingly, and also being able to adapt to changing requirements as the project continues through a process of discovery.  Other essential responsibilities include minor maintenance or product enhancement projects that may arise due to changing applicable product standards or marketing trends.

 

The position requires some travel to Mexico and the Orient as dictated by product launch requirements.

 

Job Requirements:  4-year degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering field.  Must be proficient in solid modeling programs (Solid Edge preferred), and must have experience with office management software with emphasis on MS Excel and Project to support communication efforts with off-site and off-shore personnel.  The ideal candidate is to have 2 years experience in designing recessed downlighting or other non-decorative lighting projects.
