Reliability Engineer - MTU Detroit Diesel, Inc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Apply engineering principles for engine failure investigations
2. Responsible for Series 2000 engine failure investigations
3. Participate in a cross functional team to investigate engine failures
4. Write engine failure investigation reports
5. Communicate engine failures with MTU-Friedrichschafen Department TQZ
6. Moderate job complexity and works under moderate supervision
7. Makes presentations about engine failures
8. Chairing failure analysis meetings from failed engines S2000
9. This position will be temporary for one year with the possibility of becoming a permanent position after the need is proven.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs special projects as needed
2. Supports Manager for Reliability Engineering
3. Works closely with the Customer Assurance department in case of engine failure investigation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy
2. Understands the mechanical and thermodynamic function of a diesel engine
3. Has basic knowledge about metallurgy
4. Familiarity with MS Office including Access and PowerPoint
5. Good oral and written communication skills
6. Good level of interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with others
7. Ability to travel domestically and internationally

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Ability to read technical drawings.
2. Knowledge about job related product information
3. Knowledge about statistical process control
