PURPOSE:

 The individual will be responsible for the development of Broadband over Powerline (BPL) technologies and participation in related standards activities.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 ?  Participate in Intellon?s advanced technology development for BPL applications, with particular focus on the media access control (MAC), and including the physical (PHY) and higher layers.

?  Participate in meetings and activities with standards bodies to present and encourage adoption of Intellon?s technology.

?  Develop, coordinate and present technical contributions and specifications at standards groups, both domestically and internationally.

?  Substantial travel may be required, both domestically and internationally.

?  Substantial after hours conference calls may be required for global participation in standards and regulatory meetings.

?  Perform any other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Research and Development.

 

COMMUNICATION:

 ?  Daily contact with R&D team, standards members, consultants, managers, peers and subordinates is necessary in order to promote an open line of communication to perform the required functions of the position.

 

SKILLS NEEDED:

 

?  Technology development, modeling, simulation, testing and analysis of communication systems, primarily media access control layer, but also some understanding of the physical layer.

?  The position requires the ability to creatively apply knowledge and experience to meet technology goals and objectives.

?  Ability to understand and explain complex technical specifications for communications protocols and technologies.

?  Strong interpersonal, communications, negotiation, strategic positioning and presentation skills.

 



EDUCATION:

 

?  BSEE, preferably MSEE or Ph.D. with expertise in wireless or wireline communication systems 

EXPERIENCE:

 

?  Minimum of three to five years of experience in technology development, modeling, simulation, testing and analysis of communication systems, especially for BPL.

?  Minimum of three to five years of experience actively participating in industry standards groups as the member?s primary or assistant representative to the group.

?  Prior experience with IEEE, home networking, and international standards preferred.

?  FCC regulatory and compliance experience desired.
