  Based at our World Headquarters in Lancaster, PA, Armstrong?s Research Scientist will plan, organize, and execute a successful support of coatings and materials technology in Armstrong flooring plants and products.  This includes manufacturing technical support of existing and new manufacturing facilities.  Support the operation, SOP development, raw material purchase specification development, change management process, new product development process and production startup of new/improved finish lines, and press operations in existing hardwood flooring plants in North America. Participate in selection and validation of performance of vendors for finishing system and plywood adhesive systems in North American plants. Ensure that products produced in North American plants meet performance specifications ? especially for finish system and plywood adhesive. 

 

  We are requiring a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Wood Science and a minimum of two years related experience.  Experience with radiation curing processing (UV/EB), formulation, wood coatings or adhesives manufacturing, pilot plant processing, radiometry, and coating process development is preferred.  Effective problem solving, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are assumed. Must be willing to travel to various locations both within and outside the United States.  Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and Six Sigma is a plus.
