W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. has an opportunity for a technical associate to improve current production polymerization processes. This associate will drive the following: process optimization and identification of key process variables through designed experimentation and subsequent statistical analysis; continuous product/process improvement and product/process variability reduction through component of variability analysis and SPC analysis of key process variables and product attributes; quantification of raw material variability and its effect on product/process variability; development of fitness-for-use quality assurance testing through coordination with customers and the quality assurance testing team; development of statistical justification for elimination of non-fitness-for-use quality assurance testing; scaleup and qualification of products/processes from pilot plant to production.
Qualifications
Minimum of BS degree in engineering or physical sciences required. Minimum of three years experience in manufacturing process engineering or related field required. Demonstrated proficiency in experimental design and analysis, SPC, and component of variability analysis and a proven track record of applying these skills in real-world situations is required. Additional requirements include a hands-on approach to problem solving, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong influencing skills. This associate must also possess a proven track record of being a self-starter with demonstrated experience in championing projects and setting and meeting objectives and timelines. Desirable qualifications include knowledge of organic chemistry, experience with production polymerization processes, and SQL databases and programming language. This position requires access to export-controlled areas and information. Candidates must be "US persons" as that term is defined in 8 USC 1324b(a)(3). The term "US persons" includes resident aliens ("green-card" holders) as well as certain refugees, asylum-holders and residents qualifying for temporary residence under the terms of 8 USC 1255a.
