SENIOR FIELD ENGINEER

Field Engineering consists of the analysis of requirements and assessment of changes.  It also includes consultation and negotiation with customers involving installation, modification and repair of equipment and products in field locations. Working independently or with other engineers to install, modify, test or repair Company products and equipment.  Resolve complex technical and logistics problems while promoting and maintaining good customer relations and protecting the Company's interests. Requires thorough knowledge of Company products, equipment and engineering concepts and practices.  Requires decisive actions involving complex technical issues to eliminate or minimize adverse impact ensure quality and operate within budget.  Work often involves tight schedules and complex technical tasks performed at customers' facilities.  Requires strong communications and negotiations skills, considerable travel and being on call.  Errors typically result in loss of time or rework, and may affect customer relations and project financial overruns.

 

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform complex engineering activities, conduct related analyses and provide technical advice to customers and less experienced field engineers in various aspects of field service assignments.
Visit multiple job-sites to ensure proper installation and operation of specialized equipment and to devise solutions to problems.
Establish schedules and procedures in conjunction with manager and customers.  Inform other groups such as Business Development of potential opportunities for new business. 
Represent the Company in conferences with customer's operating management and other personnel, consulting engineers, contractors and vendors.
Provide technical advice involving complex problems, and follow up to facilitate resolution.
Maintain communications with engineering design groups regarding such issues as design improvements and resolution of highly complex problems. 
Propose to customers, ways to optimize their operations while concurrently increasing the Company's business and meeting customer requirements.
Consult with vendor?s field representatives in order to develop and implement corrective measures involving vendor supplied equipment. 
Often work non-standard schedules at off-site locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.

 

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or related field.
Minimum of 5+ years of technical experience in the power generation industry.
Solid knowledge of fossil steam generation product design and engineering execution processes a must. 
Solid orientation to the commercial implications of engineering performance, coupled with customer focus. 
Excellent communication and interface skills, with the capability of facilitating integrated efforts of multiple engineering functions.
Previous experience working on field assignments involving extensive travel a definite plus.
On call and extensive domestic and international travel a must.
