SENIOR STRUCTURES ENGINEER
General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, Inc. is looking for qualified candidates in the field of Finite Element Analysis to work in our Richardson, Texas facility. We are an industry leader in the design and fabrication of large satellite antennas, radar, radio telescope, and optical telescope structures. Our customers include major defense prime contractors, governmental agencies, universities, and observatories.
In addition to our large communication and radar structures, we have contributed to the development and installation of many major radio telescope systems in North America, including the VLBA, Arecibo, and the 100m Green Bank Telescope. Our optical telescope projects include the Hobby-Eberly Telescope, and the SOAR and VISTA telescopes.
The successful candidate will be a major contributor to a design team, working closely with customers, as well as other members of the General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies? team. Duties include: system level FEA analysis, reporting results to internal and external customers, and development of analysis tools.
Qualified applicants for this position should have:
? a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
? 5 years? experience with FEA -- preferably ANSYS; however, experience in COSMOS, NASTRAN, or MARC will be acceptable if the candidate is willing to learn ANSYS.
? Applicants must be self-starters with strong communications skills, capable of carrying out independent investigations and interacting effectively with the rest of the team.
? Experience with large antennas, radio telescopes, optical telescopes, or large steel structures is desirable.
? Experience with 3-D CAD modeling, Visual Basic, or control systems is also considered a plus.
