We have an opening in our Oakland, California manufacturing facility for a

Senior Electrical Engineer.

 

Manages and participates in engineering projects.  Evaluates project progress and results to assure that goals are met.  Prepares and presents reports, outlining the outcome of projects and makes recommendations for further work.  Coordinates with all affected parties, prototyping, and vendor activity.

 

Creates and uses product specifications, descriptions, and test results to initiate conceptual and breadboard phases.  Uses conventional and computer aided design and drafting techniques.  Works with Engineering Manager or Vice President to develop new product specifications and schedules.  Implements conceptual designs and feasibility studies. 

 

Responsible for the design and development of product subsystems with emphasis toward designs that enhance the product, improve manufacturability, and reduce cost. 

 

Manages product compliance testing for both new and existing product.  Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Refines designs based on prototype testing and prepares manufacturing documentation.

 

Designs and develops procedures and tests, builds test fixtures to insure that products are built to the highest quality standards. Plans and develops experimental test programs.

 

Supports existing released products; may work with Marketing and Technical Services to assist customers.  Refines designs based on prototype testing and directs support personnel in preparation of manufacturing documentation. 

 

Provides guidance to, and may supervise, on a project bases, the efforts of other team members. 

 

Keeps detailed records of all work.

 

Education/Degree/Skills: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.  Seven to ten years applicable design and development experience plus minimum of two years in project/technical leadership role.

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS

 

Vacation

  Entitled to six days vacation after six months of employment.  Commencing with the seventh month, additional benefits are accrued at the rate of one day per month.  Another day is added in the second, third, and fourth years of employment to reach a total of 15 days.  Upon completion of ten years? employment, a day is added to the accrual each year to a total of 20 days.

 Holidays

  Nine paid holidays per year.

 

Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance

  We provide complete medical, dental, prescription, and vision coverage through United Healthcare. (Eligibility:  the first day of the month following your hire date; full-time employees working more than 30 hours each week).  Kaiser HMO option is available in California.

 Flexible Spending Accounts

Health Care: you may elect to contribute between $240 and $4,000 to the Health Care Flexible Spending Account.

Dependent Care: you may elect to contribute between $240 and $5,000 for the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account.

 

Long Term Disability

  No cost to employee.  (30-day wait for all full time employees.)

 

Short Term Disability (STD) for Exempt Employees

  No cost to employee.

 

Short Term Disability (STD) for Non-Exempt Employees

All fulltime non-exempt employees in active employment status in the United States except for California, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Hawaii are eligible for this benefit.

 

Sick Days

  Non-exempt employees:  7 days/year. None in the first three months. 

  Exempt employees:  Discretion is expected.

 

Retirement Plan

  All contributions made at the discretion of the Company based on corporate profit.  Eligible after one year waiting period (working minimum of 1000 hours), then participation on nearest entry date: January 1 or July 1.

 

401(K) Savings Plan

  All regular employees (exempt and non-exempt) eligible after 6-month waiting period.

 

Personal Days

  Two per year; one (1) Personal Day if hired after September 1st.

 

Tuition Reimbursement

  Eligible after six months of employment for pre-approved, job-related courses at accredited institutions.  Grade of B or better must be earned to receive reimbursement. Maximum of 2 classes per academic year.  Text books not included.
