Safety Engineer/ Industrial Hygienist

 

Philotechnics, an industry leader in radioactive waste management and Health Physics services, has an opening a Safety Engineer/ Industrial Hygienist at the Idaho Falls, ID site.  This position provides independent oversight of all aspects of company operations for contractual and government mandated compliance.  The successful candidate will be responsible for performing assigned duties in potentially hazardous environments in accordance with OSHA restrictions. This position is responsible for maintaining safety standards in the execution of day to day work: interfaces with customer engineering personnel on safety and IH issues, review Philotechnics work procedures to ensure that all Philotechnics customers and government safety standards are met: implements safety and IH training: reviews training records, qualification programs and assigned task.  Develops and presents training materials. Must have excellent computer skills.  A qualified applicant would meet the following requirements:

 B.S. Industrial Hygiene is preferred.  A Bachelor degree in either Industrial Safety, engineering, or hard science will be considered in conjunction with relevant work experience.5 years experience within the Industrial Hygiene profession, or a combination of 8 years experience in Industrial Safety and Industrial Hygiene profession with at least 3 years experience dedicated to Industrial Hygiene.CIH or CSP certification is a plusShould possess five years of broad technical experience, of which at least 2 years in administration of a safety program.Previous experience with:  Radiological maintenance or Decontamination and Decommissioning work, construction related activities, Naval Nuclear Program and/or DOE ?NR engineering certification are preferred in some combination.Must be willing and able to cross train in either Industrial or Construction Safety.A current DOE clearance is a plus.  MUST be able to obtain a DOE security Clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
