Job Description:

 

The Sales Engineer Fiber Networks division will be responsible for selling current and future National Grid Wireless dark fiber, lit transport and collocation services to telecommunication carriers, educational, medical, bio-tech, government and selected new markets within our network footprint. The successful candidate will work for the Director of Fiber Sales providing technical support for the Fiber Networks Sales team within selected accounts. 

 

Qualifications:

 

Identify and build technical relationships and credibility with selected telecommunication customers.  The individual should leverage existing relationships and develop new relationships in an effort to grow the current customer business.

 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in communicating technical telecommunication solutions within the wireline carrier and enterprise markets.  He or she will exhibit a high level of professionalism, leadership and customer focused qualities. The following key competencies are also required:

 Industry Expertise - The successful candidate will possess sufficient technical knowledge and experience in marketing and developing customer solutions for dark fiber, lit transport and collocation services. Candidate should have proven experience with the Physical and Data Link layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model. This should include experience with civil construction and permitting for telecommunication infrastructure with public and private right of ways.Technical Skills ? MS Office Suite, MS Project, Auto CAD, Map Info and alternate mapping Software Programs Team Player - The Sales Engineer will possess strong team-building, project management and organizational skills. He or she will exhibit strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently.Customer Skills - The Sales Engineer will be comfortable dealing at the highest levels of our target customers' organizations and exhibit exceptional customer responsiveness.

 

A minimum of 5 years previous experience of marketing technical telecommunication services to the wireline carriers and within selected enterprise markets. A successful track record in supporting sales teams, positive customer related feedback and the ability to develop strong technical relationships are required.  A strong understanding of the telecommunications industry, including people, companies, trends and business models. Goal-oriented. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
