Sales Engineer - Defense
This position is about 75% technical and hands-on/25% customer facing, so please apply only if you meet the development, configuration, and networking requirements below:
Job Summary
Lead technical interface between our client and a major government/defense contractor as well as other Prime Contractors in the defense industry. This is a one-of-a-kind role working side by side with the top engineers throughout the defense industry who are designing and developing the future communications systems to be used in the defense, intelligence, homeland security and space sectors.
Primary Responsibilities
* Provide guidance on best practice application/integration of communication software to defense communications systems
* Provide technical training and support to program teams on architecture, networking, software API's, development tools, utilities, evaluation and sample software
* Assist Business Development team with qualifying new business opportunities
* Create technical presentations, applications notes, sample code and demonstrations to assist program teams to better understand and take advantage of technology
* Work side-by-side with program teams to set up and conduct technical evaluations
* Work with Business Development to shape new customer proposals an integral to influencing the technical side of new and existing accounts.
* Provide internal engineering teams with input based on customer interactions
* Travel domestically to meet with Prime Contractor program teams

Requirements
* Must be US Citizen, experience with defense industry is a plus
* Bachelor's Degree in CS or EE, MS preferred
* At least 10 years experience.
* Broad and deep networking knowledge. Top-of-mind familiar with networking design best practices. Can do hands on router/switch/stack configuration as required for demonstrations, lab testing, evaluations, etc.
* Application software engineering experience. Knowledgeable with C, Shell Scripts, XML, HTML. Preferably spanning a broad range of projects and covering a diversity of communication protocols/standards including, GSM, RTP/RTCP, IP/TCP/UDP, 802.11 and network types.
* Experience in the design, development, deployment and support commercial quality software, either as a standalsoftware product (e.g., STB middleware component) or a critical component in an end-product (e.g., IP networking appliance)
* Excellent communications skills, especially oral. Presents technical material with ease and inspires confidence.
* Experienced in sales situations and in front of customers. Enjoys frequent customer contact
* Able to travel. Mostly domestic.
* Current or prior Security Clearance a plus
