Description: An engineering position with the focus on bandwidth analysis utilizing leading edge Unix based products. This position will administer 100+ Unix servers on a daily basis that interact directly with the network.

This position requires the following:

A self-motivated individual able to take on large and complex projects. A demonstrated ability to manage technical projects including time-lines, resources and vendor relationships. The applicant must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic and sometimes stressful environment. Must posses an ability to work both independently as well as on teams. Must be able to work as a lead engineer in a team atmosphere. A strong attention to detail. Solid and creative problem solving skills and an ability and desire to learn and teach.

Solid and demonstrated experience in Linux and NetBSD OS support including patching, installation/setup and performance tuning is essential. Experienced in monitoring system performance utilizing common Unix system tools.

Able to build system from scratch, configure Hard disk partitions, boot Scripts, package build management, etc.

Strong understanding and proficiency with general UNIX and Linux security concepts

Knowledge and ability to utilize Perl, Shell and SQL programs

Experienced in data communications and networking principles; standards (e.g., ANSI, IETF, IEEE). Experienced in monitoring networks utilizing common Unix system tools.

Knowledge of traffic engineering and bandwidth capacity management.

Knowledge of the mathematics/physics of data network phenomena relating to network performance: response time, throughput, and availability.

Experience and working knowledge of common engineering design principles and methodologies with ability to read and understand engineering specifications and documentation.

Advanced trouble shooting techniques, methodologies, and documentation skills.

Ability to develop implement and maintain policies, procedures and manuals

Knowledge of routers, switches, cabling, TCP/IP, protocols and network topologies.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or telecommunications field. (or equivalent experience - 6+ yrs in a Senior Unix administration role)

Minimum of 5+ years experience with Linux/BSD server administration and management

Minimum of 5+ years Apache and Postgres administration

Minimum of 5+ years of Perl and shell scripting

Minimum of 5+ years experience working with complex IP networks and IP protocols

Experience managing large number of remote systems using command-line tools
