Senior Controls Engineer III

Scope of Position :
Support the Diesel business in the area of controls/vision systems (also be responsible for improving the quality, utilization, and speed of these system). As the Diesel business continues to grow there is a very strong need to setup a core group of controls/vision technologists to handle Diesel specific issues. This position will be a position in that direction. There are several systems being pursed right now which are being brought into production which require these skills (these include high speed plugging, inspection and Quality assurance systems). The person in this position will need to learn these systems from the current developers and then be able to support these systems long term.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Actively be involved in designing, building and testing various controls/vision systems in the Diesel business. Working closely with the technical communities at research/development and the production facility. Supporting these systems fully till they are accepted in production. Some level of off-hours support maybe required.

Required Skills
1. Strong knowledge of electrical/controls, instrumentation (e.g. sensors) and vision systems technologies
2. Strong background in computer programs like VB.net, Labview, WiT, C++ etc
3. Designing, building, debugging and bringing to production controls/vision systems
4. Experience with image analysis (vision measurement systems)
Desired Skills:
1. Basic project management skills (e.g. scoping, budgeting, timelines etc.)
2. Some experience in manufacturing environment
3. Some exposure to high powered laser systems
4. Some knowledge of equipment engineering, process support and debug
5. Experience with precision optical systems
Education and Experience:
1. BS (or higher) degree in electrical/controls engineering (or related fields)
2. 5 years minimum experience in controls/vision systems engineering
Soft Skills:
1. Good people skills
2. Ability to resolve conflicts with customers, peers and supervisors
3. Flexibility with regard to supporting projects at various locations in the Corning/Erwin valley
