Senior Customer Engineer

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
*Work directly with the customer, application engineering, and project management at the inception of a new order to validate customer requirements and accurately flow those requirements into the OTR process.
*Work with customer at the Order Definition Meeting (ODM) to validate ITO/OTR handoff and customer requirements.
*Analyze Steam Turbine contract documents and opening letter requirements, transmit information to design, manufacturing and sourcing functions.
*Participate in Design Assurance process with customer based data from service centers, outages, customer project team to ensure most rigorous design implementation. [Energy Services]
*Work with engineering team to identify technical risk and formulate risk mitigation plans. Own risk management plan.
*Document customer/rebuild requirements in proper OTR documentation to ensure all features and specifications are communicated through design, drafting and manufacturing.
*Provide technical interface to customers and/or their assigned AE's. *Initiate and conduct release meetings to turn over new orders to OTR team.
*Maintain sufficient time line schedules (TIMES) to ensure project is accurately defined and on time.
*Track all engineering deliverables to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
*Evaluate financial/schedule impact for changes to contract technical requirements.
*Review ICO's with Project Management and customer to ensure proper implementation.
*Provide full support to both the customer and the GE field teams during outages to ensure on time and accurate outage execution.
*Obtain necessary feedback from customers and outage support teams to properly feed design, drafting and NPI organizations on future orders. [Energy Services]
*Execute/respond to PAC cases and RFIs as assigned on an individual order basis.
*Drive GE Initiatives (Quality Projects, Direct Material Productivity, Total Product Cost, etc.) w/focus on customer interface and internal productivity.

Qualifications/Requirements:
*BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Power Engineering
*Minimum of 8 years engineering experience
*Excellent Computer skills (MS Access, MS Project, MS Excel, & MS PowerPoint)
*Knowledge of commercial and technical aspects of power generation equipment.
*Green Belt Certified (GE employees only).

Desired:
*MS Degree in Engineering.
*Steam Turbine product and power plant knowledge.
*Substantial demonstrated capability in continuous improvement activities.
*Power Plant Engineering Experience.
*Willingness to travel (10% - 20%)
*Excellent Project management, leadership, presentation & communication skills.

General:
*Represent the voice of the customer and commercial team within the GSTT team. Lead and integrate customer, manufacturing, engineering, and field services CTQ's throughout the execution of major steam turbine projects. Drive the technical risk management plan for each requisition project. Develop and improve upon consistent processes that apply to the steam turbine organization. Drive process improvement through GE initiatives to implement more customer centric approach to rebuild activities, including, but not limited to, more timely and accurate ITO/OTR handoffs, flow down of key customer CTQ's, elimination of backroom activities, etc.
*This position is located in Schenectady, NY.
