Position Title: Senior Database Administrator

 

Summary of position:



The Senior Database Administrator performs database analysis and design at a high level with project planning and organizing skills. Lead project teams and provide guidance related to new technologies and system configurations in a fast-paced, team-based 24x7 production environment. The position requires the use of advanced tools in support of database management and production support activities.

 

Responsibilities:

? Database administration on Oracle databases residing on Windows 2003, Windows 2000 and Windows NT servers for transactional and reporting applications. Installation of system upgrades. Management of physical disk resources. Automated data backups. Data integrity monitoring and management. Responsible for implementing security and integrity controls.

? System administration & monitoring. Software script development. Oracle performance tuning and troubleshooting. Query & system performance optimization.

? Lead team of database administrators on projects and technologies related to implementation of Phase Forward technologies.  Work with vendors and Internet services providers to provide most efficient, highest performance configuration.

? Manage all functionality enhancements, changes in system parameters, and user access and security enhancements. Recommend database management tools. Manage application and database system upgrades. Develop ODBC data transformations and exports.

? Participate in requirements, specification and project development for data related projects. Participate in system, network and reporting functions to provide system installation, configuration, storage, backup, export, connectivity and recovery management as needed. Work with vendors to provide committed services.

? Design and manage manual and automated backup and recovery procedures. Develop management scripts, job queues, monitoring procedures and systems, communication daemons, job scheduling systems and other services.

? Responsible for design of enhanced, custom, and performance configurations.

? Manage data tables, user table spaces, data dictionary, indices, views and synonyms based on transaction volume and application requirements. Create database links, aliases, snapshots, privileges and roles, and complex queries for reporting systems.

? Interface with development organization related to new Phase Forward products, through product development lifecycle.

 

Education and Work Experience:

? Demonstrable expertise in database design and management technologies. Expertise with Oracle, NT servers, ODBC, SQL*Plus, SQL*Forms, HTML, and other db development and reporting systems. Perl and Oracle Replication.

? Scripting experience with Perl, VBScript, Java Script, WScript, Windows Shell Scripting

? Communicate verbally and in writing to appropriate management.

? Experienced with Quality Management methods and philosophies.

? Must be self-managed and self-motivated.





Requirements: First rate customer service skills are a MUST.BSCS or equivalent and - 8 + years design experience required.Knowledge of managing Oracle in UNIX and/or Linux environment a plus.Must be available to be on call 24x7 and work some evenings or weekends.Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and planning skills.Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
