Senior Digital Hardware Engineer

CITY: Grain Valley STATE: Missouri COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Senior digital hardware design engineer is required to fill an immediate need for the Engineering Center of Excellence (COE).

Responsibilities Include:
*Participate in all aspects of Digital Hardware engineering to include Design circuits to work reliably in harsh environments.
*Lead design tradeoffs and analysis using DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) tools and processes and present results.
*Generate design documentation.
*Contribute to process optimization and productivity enhancements. *Provide support to Project Leader by preparing technical quotes and proposals, review technical specifications, scope identification, system architecture definition, risk assessments and hold contractor / subcontractor meetings and reviews.
*Drive product conceptual designs and concept trade of analysis. *Communicate design requirements and schedule to Project Manager and Lead Hardware Engineer.
*Provide technical feedback to the implementers for correction of design efforts.
*Be able to drive open technical issues to closure.
*Provide technical mentorship to the team.
*Responsible for working with a team of System, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers in development efforts.
*Responsible for interfacing with Suppliers and Customers as appropriate during design, implementation, and test phases of development.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* BSEE.
* At least 8 years experience in digital hardware design, board level design of digital control circuits, I/O circuits, 16/32 bit microprocessors and programmable logic devices.

* If currently a GE employee, you must have been in your current position for at least 12 months and have at least a satisfactory performance rating.

Desired:
* Six-Sigma DFSS Green Belt trained/certified.
* Six-Sigma DMAIC trained/certified.
* Proficient in Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) background.
* Proficient with simulation tools and design for high noise and harsh environments.
* Proven ability to lead a design group from concept to release to manufacturing.
* Ability to drive process simplification.
* Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to lead and work as part of a project team.
* Familiarity with design for railroad products and systems and their environments.
* Demonstrated capacity to mentor and train fellow employees.
