Candidates should possess a very broad knowledge base of power plant equipment, components, design, layout and maintenance requirements. Areas of knowledge include pressure parts, rotating equipment, external piping, ducts, casing, balance of plant (bop), buckstays and structural steel. Additionally this position requires excellent communication skills and sound decision-making ability to prepare the designs and 3D models with minimal Supervision.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:


Prepare in close association with the responsible design engineering department, work scope definition, design layout and detailed designs to satisfy requirements and conditions of assigned contracts, proposals or related tasks. Site scoping trips may be needed to confirm routing clearances and arrangements.

 
Establish design factors, standard practices or precedents, review standard reference sources to accomplish design intent. Perform design calculations in support of preparing contract or proposal drawings.

 
Provide advice and guidance to supporting drafters on preparation of arrangements, details and standard drawings to be used in the final contract drawings.

 
Prepare 3D Plant models and contract general arrangement drawings in accordance with the specified departmental procedures using CAD software. Innovation and originality is needed. Must be proficient in AutoCad 2D and 3D software. Experience with PASCE and or PDMS referred.

 
Review supplier and supporting drafting personnel drawings for conformance to customer specifications, approved practices, standards and codes governing that phase of work. Independently resolve complex problems and coordinate solutions with all affected specialty disciplines. Investigate non-conformances and recommend solutions.

 
Acting as lead person for assigned projects, attend meetings, visit job sites or manufacturing facilities, provide scheduling input, hour and material estimates, drawing/document control and other coordination to fulfill contract requirements.

 
Assemble, check, obtain approval and distribute contract drawings per task assignment details.

 
Interact with manufacturing facilities as directed by contract instructions to transmit drawings, requisitions or related material in fulfilling specified contract requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate?s degree in engineering or related field plus 10 (ten) to (15) + fifteen years of drafting and design experience or a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
