Senior Engineer, Materials Behavior

CITY: Cincinnati STATE: Ohio COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
* Remain current and be a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty in order to anticipate, apply, adapt or develop MP technology to meet current and future business needs including adherence to schedules and estimated costs.
* Provide the primary materials engineering technical support to cross functional teams to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier or field issues, e.g. cost reduction activities, quality initiatives, failure analysis, etc.
* Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE Transportation customers.
* Use knowledge and expertise to market winning proposals in anticipation of GE Transportation product needs.
* Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that give GE Transportation a competitive advantage.
* Provide technical guidance, direction and training to new and experienced materials engineers and specialists.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* BS in Materials Engineering or other technical field with significant materials engineering experience.
* Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art in at least one technical specialty.
* Demonstrated communication, problem analysis, and problem resolution skills.
* Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs.

* Candidate must be able to provide documentation demonstrating that he/she is legally authorized to work in the United States.

Desired:
* Experience with mechanical behavior of aerospace alloys preferred.

* Identify, develop, evaluate, introduce and support materials and processes (MP) to meet near term and long range engine needs.
* Lead and/or provide the key technical direction to several large projects with substantial business impact.
* Remain current and be a leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty.
