Senior Engineer (R&D)

Job Responsibilities :

* Manages projects from receipt of an order through expiration of warranty and directs activities concerned with projects for purchase or sale of equipment, materials, products, or service.
* Manage the contract to control project costs and meet or exceed gross margin requirements.
* Coordinate and respond to all customer inquiries on technical/commercial issues.
* Communicates with global customer base by telephone at odd hours of the day or night and on weekends, utilizing company-furnished credit card.
* Coordinates work of engineering, quality assurance, purchasing production, shipping and finance to implement fulfillment of contracts.
* Reviews bids from vendors of engineered, buyout products and determines acceptability of bids, advising purchase how to proceed.
* Acts as liaison between company and subcontractors in the resolution of technical issues.
* Transmits drawings, data sheets, calculations, process procedures, test and progress reports and other exhibits as required by contract, and follows up with customer for appropriate action - revising and resubmitting documents as required.
* Prepares order entry and order amendment documents.
* Responsible for maintenance and organization of project files.
* Requests or approves amendments to or extensions of contracts.
* Maintains contract and contractor status databases.
* Examines estimates of material, equipment, and production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from four-year college or university required plus three to five years prior valve or engineered product experience required and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Knowledge of company products, practices and procedures in managing projects relating to pricing and negotiations, cost estimating, engineering, manufacturing, delivery, billing, and special terms and conditions.
* Creative thinking/problem solving skills necessary
* Familiar with risk analysis
* Effective negotiation and communications (both oral and written) skills required
* Computer literate (MS Word, Excel)
* Understanding of NDE operations
* MK (Manufacturing Knowledge) system knowledge desired
* Knowledge of international and U.S. Contract Law
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10% of time
* Fluency in a foreign language desirable.
