Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Purpose: As an Associate, you will lead geotechnical engineering design of Arup Energy projects. Those projects include concept and detailed engineering of concrete and steel gravity based substructures for offshore oil, gas and LNG projects. Additionally, Arup Energy is active engineering solutions for onshore oil, gas and LNG projects such as LNG storage tanks located in poor ground and seismically active areas.

To oversee the work of Arup geotechnical staff on onshore and offshore geotechnical site investigations on a variety of projects.

To provide owners geotechnical engineering advisory services on foundation aspects of energy projects.

To support business development activities in for geotechnical engineering services in the energy sector.

Specifics:

Preparation of:
-conceptual and detailed geotechnical engineering designs for offshore and onshore works with a focus on design and review of
-gravity based substructure foundations involving cyclic storm loads, seismic loadings and soil structure interaction effects.
-piled foundations for offshore structures
-suction anchors
-onshore LNG tank foundations
-shallow and deep onshore foundations for a variety of structures

Preparation of:
-interpretative geotechnical investigation reports.
-specifications for and attend site and investigations and soil testing works
-sketches and drawings detailing the systems designed.
-system design calculations.

Additional:

-Attend construction site and offshore sites related to project and consultancy commissions
-Report writing
-Lead a small geotechnical engineering team
-Coordinate with other geotechnical engineers in Arup
-Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines.
-Coordinate work with project drafting staff.
-Completion of work within agreed project target man-hours and expenses.
-Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.

Requirements:

-Masters or PhD degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering with a focus on offshore structures, cyclic and seismic loading.
-At least 10 years engineering post graduate experience.
-PE License advantageous.
-Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
-Good interpersonal skills able to work as part of a team.
-Self-motivated able to work with little supervision.
