Senior Hardware Engineer

Tollgrade seeks a Senior Hardware Engineer for its CATV Status Monitoring business.  The position duties, responsibilities, and requirements follow, but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities: 

? Performs assignments related to the design and development of Tollgrade products

? Design and maintain CATV Status Monitoring devices

? Design microprocessor based embedded devices

? Design RF receivers and transmitters

? Possesses and demonstrates strong technical knowledge of circuit design and fundamental engineering processes

? Serves as central point and reference for technical information regarding projects assigned and development issues.

? Develops processes and procedures and refines current procedures as needed

? Ensures that that all applicable Tollgrade development process and procedures are adhered to and that product requirement documents are update to reflect changes and/or design realities.

? May Interface with customers regarding product requirements, capabilities and problems

? Coordinates with other departments to ensure completion of all design related assignments

? In conjunction with all other departments impacted, develops product requirement and design specification documentation prior to development.

? Produces detailed documentation during development process

? Participates in peer technical reviews as assigned

? Responsible for generating test plan and procedures and reviewing those of assigned team

? Estimates costs and schedules for projects

 

 

Required Skills, Education, and Experience:

 

? BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with five years' experience.

? Knowledge of analog circuit and switching power supply designs.

? Experience with digital design; FPGA and microprocessor.

? RF circuit design, <1 GHz.

? Strong system troubleshooting skills

? Strong analytical and design skills

? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

? Ability to solve complex analytical problems

 

 

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

 

? Advanced Degree e.g. Masters

? Familiar with Network and Spectrum Analyzers

? Digital Modulation/Demodulation Design, FSK, QPSK, 64QAM, 256QAM.

? Experience with CATV plant powering and NTSC signal transmission.

? Experience with MPEG video transmission.

? Knowledge of DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0
