Senior Kernal Engineer

Senior Kernel Software Engineer:

 

Trend Micro is looking for a senior operating system/Linux kernel/kernel scheduling software engineer to lead the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization of software for Linux-based high performance network security appliances.
The successful candidate must have excellent inter-departmental communication. This position will also entail some responsibility for project planning and schedules.


Requirements:
?Bachelor degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience 
?10+ years Professional experience with 4+ years experience in Unix/Linux
?Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux Kernel programming with hands-on Linux experience programming (including kernel, device drivers, scheduler, building open source packages)
?Extensive Experience optimizing overall system performance
?Experience with SMP kernel programming and performance tuning
?Thorough knowledge of UNIX internals, drivers, systems programming, computer architecture, and networking essentials required.
?Strong C programming language, system design, debugging skills and solid knowledge of TCP/IP and other network protocols
?Develop and debug software at all levels from applications to hardware drivers.
?Network appliance or embedded experience a large plus
?Hands on experience debugging the kernel with JTAG tools is a plus
?Ability and interest in learning new kernel features and new CPU cores.
?Proven experience solving complex problems and grasping a large and complex code base.
?Conveys thoughts clearly in both written and verbal communications.
?Convert broad requirements to detailed specification and document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents.
?Must enjoy working with other team members and departments in a collaborative fashion.
?Requires technical innovation and creativity, thoroughness, attention to detail, adaptability to shifting priorities/deadlines and multi-tasking.
?Very strong documentation skills utilizing Microsoft Word and Visio/PowerPoint.
