Senior Manager, Advanced Materials Technology

Flextronics is seeking a highly motivated, talented Senior Manager to lead, develop and optimize the processes for fabricating components (or piece parts) used in electronic products.

In this position, you will be resopnsible for leveraging traditional processing technologies to fabricate components using newer or non-traditional materials (or using traditional materials in non-traditional applications).

These activities will include working with materials as diverse as polymers, magnetic alloys, bulk metallic glasses, rigid and flexible printed circuits, etc. in applications that include electromechanical components, enclosures for hand-held products, antennas, solar cells, molded interconnect devices and wireless modules.

Technology development activities must lead to measurable and significant business growth in current businesses or the creation of new business units

This is a senior level, "hands on" technical and technology management position with the following responsibilities:

· Directing advanced technology development activities that leverage materials and materials processing technologies to create value and competitive differentiation.

o Determine product requirements and applicability of current capabilities.
o Perform gap analysis and develop plans to "fill" gaps.
o Work with business development as well business and technology analysts to evaluate business opportunities and develop appropriate business plans.
o Selection of materials and suppliers
o Work with universities, business segments, customers and other technology groups to develop application-specific technologies, processes and components that create value and competitive differentiation.
o Manage research and development programs and activities to facilitate introduction of new products or processes or recommend improvements to existing products or processes.
o Develop and manage project budget.

· Projects must be managed to ensure cost, performance and quality requirements are met.

Within the scope of this position, your job requirements include:

o The ability to trouble-shoot and solve technically complex material and process related problems.
o Extensive experience developing products or processes for commercial applications.
o Excellent knowledge of materials and material processing technologies.
o The ability to conduct engineering studies to understand and characterize materials in order to confirm feasibility of materials, processes or techniques.
o The ability to evaluate both technical and economic factors to make sound business decisions
o Experience managing complex technology development activities across multiple geographies
o Experience working with customers and suppliers


Job Requirements:


As a qualified candidate your experience and academic background will include:

· Minimum of 10 years experience in technology development
· PhD or MS degree in Physics, Materials Science or Chemistry, preferably with an MBA as well.
