Stantec Consulting provides a broad range of mechanical engineering services including the following:

o Central utility plant design
o Power plant/cogeneration feasibility studies and design
o HVAC/plumbing design
o Industrial design including petroleum terminals, process plants and material handling
o Mechanical design for biopharmaceutical clients
o Energy conservation audits/studies/reports/recommendations
o Building commissioning
o Third party Owner's Engineer

Stantec Consulting has been successful in securing several large contracts which necessitate expanding the mechanical engineering department.

Stantec Consulting is currently in search of an experienced mechanical engineer with a defined set of qualifications as outlined below:

Mandatory Qualifications
o B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
o A minimum of ten years experience practicing as a mechanical engineer
o Professional mechanical engineering license (if not CA license, then CA license will be obtained as soon as possible after starting work at Stantec)
o Previous experience successfully working in a multi-discipline consulting or design/build environment with defined budgets and schedules with high customer and manager expectations
o Previous supervisory experience in a mechanical engineering department - a minimum of 3 years experience is required
o Demonstrated detailed design experience producing drawings and specifications for complex multidiscipline projects requiring building permits.
o Effective communication, report writing and presentation skills including a strong command of the English language (written and spoken).

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Technical/Work Experience Qualifications
o Power and energy project experience at a system design level including P&ID preparation, equipment/construction selection and specifications.
o A strong working knowledge of building codes and requirements including the Uniform/California Building Code, Mechanical Code, Plumbing Code, Fire Code and California Title 24 (Energy Efficiency Standards) as they pertain to mechanical system selection, specification and design.
o Proficient at Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Project
o Conventional utility piping experience such as chilled water, heating hot water, steam, condensate, compressed air, instrument air, nitrogen, oxygen, vacuum
o Biopharmaceutical utility piping experience utilizing cGMP practices such as USP purified water, WFI, CIP/SIP systems, clean steam, breathable air, etc.
o Knowledge of ISPE baseline and good practice guides
o Experience in fire protection and instrumentation.
o A strong working knowledge of industrial mechanical design codes including ANSI B31, ASME, etc.
o Experience in developing construction cost estimates for a wide variety of mechanical engineering work scopes
o Experience in mechanical design aspects of pipe support design including pipe stress analysis, seismic forces and the selection of support types and location
o Previous experience in obtaining mechanical design permits from local/city/county building departments.
o A working knowledge of AutoCAD to be able to view drawings, make minor changes and print out drawings.
o Relevant field and construction support experience.

Management and Business Development Qualifications
o Previous experience as a technical and administrative manager of a mechanical engineering/design group.
o Client interface skills including demonstrated experience with direct client contacts, presentations of engineering concepts and work products to client groups, resolving project challenges directly and effectively with the client.
o Business development experience including mechanical discipline support in the preparation of statements of qualifications and requests for proposals and participation in the client interview process for engineering firm selection.
o Significant experience developing engineering man hour budget estimates as input to proposal efforts.
