Senior Middleware Engineer

We are currently looking for a Sr. Middleware Engineer to join our technology team.  In this role you will be responsible for supporting third-party middleware software products, such as IBM MQ Series and IBM WebSphere Application Server.  Primary responsibilities include installing, maintaining, configuring, tuning, monitoring, and trouble-shooting middleware tools and technologies.  Responsibilities also include providing consulting and architectural design services to groups implementing middleware technologies.  The role includes working with other development groups and support groups.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish and develop a working knowledge of supporting middleware products such as WebSphere MQ, WebSphere application Server, etc.  This includes performing installs, upgrades, configuration, tuning, clustering and troubleshooting. Provide developers technical assistance with design, application integration, debugging and performance tuning in regards to the middleware technologies being used. Solve complex analytical technical problems independently. Establish and develop a working knowledge on the following operating systems:  Linux, Windows, AIX, Solaris, and z/OS. Provide 24x7 production middleware support. Provide well written documentation and presentations on middleware technologies supported by the group. Work with different software vendors to determine solutions. Work as the project leader for some projects and provide task direction to achieve project goals.





MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 BA, BS or AA or equivalent industry work experience. 2+ years of working experience supporting IBM WebSphere Application Server or/and WebSphere MQ, including: installs, upgrades, configurations, tuning, load balancing, clustering, and troubleshooting, or 2+years of related technology experience. 2+ years of working knowledge in one of the following operating systems:  Linux, Solaris, AIX, NT, Windows and/or z/OS. 1+ years experience with Linux. Working knowledge of J2EE concepts, standards and technology, including servlets, JSPs, and EJBs. Adept at researching middleware technology solutions with all available resources. Proven analytical and trouble shooting skills. Ability to set scope and deliver quality results. Ability to determine and assign tasks to others to achieve project goals. Basic networking experience


PREFERRED EXPERINECE Experience in utilizing change management systems and maintenance windows in support of achieving highly available enterprise systems. Basic shell scripting experience.
