Senior Optical Engineer

Job Purpose:

To assist R&D and Manufacturing in the design, development, production
and evaluation of products based upon Fusion Optix?s patented Advanced
Polymer Optics? technology. We are looking for a senior optical
engineer with a track record of successful project management and
delivery in a commercial environment. A self-starter who can both
manage and execute technical tasks and effectively liase with internal
functions and the external supply chain. Projects will also include
designing optical components and solutions for displays (including LCD
backlights, projection screens, and OLEDs), light fixtures and signs
(including direct view LED, direct-lit LED, and fluorescent). It is
therefore necessary that any candidate can demonstrate a strong
background and understanding in displays and/or lighting. 

Key Responsibilities:Manage and execute engineering projects developing optical components for the global display and lighting markets. Design and develop advanced displays and optical products using optical modeling, experimental research, and new technology Construct and build display component prototypes meeting targeted performance goals. Measure and assist in the optical and physical metrology of laboratory and manufacturing samples. Provide technical reports and analysis to support R&D, manufacturing, OEM partners and marketing. Assist where necessary in establishing new or improved measurement
techniques for measuring optical properties of products or components. Analyze and specify optical properties of products and components
(internal and external OEM partners) and intellectual property. Attend and participate in Fusion Optix team meetings and contribution to general business activities







 

Qualifications:

 A Ph.D. and or Masters degree in science or optics is required. Must be
able to demonstrate a strong understanding of optical engineering,
photometry, optical modelling, and optical design. Must have practical,
hands-on experience working with displays (LCD, LED, or Projection).
Must have experience and be able to use ASAP to model non-imaging
optics. Practical or modeling experience with light fixtures, LED
optics or backlit signs is a plus. Light scattering modeling or polymer
optics experience is a plus. Must have significant optics experience in
either the display or lighting industry. This is not a position for
someone with a background in semiconductor optical physics or liquid
crystal modeling.
