Senior Packaging Design Engineer

 

 

StacoSwitch has been in business for over 40 years producing high-end military and aerospace components.  We have an immediate opening for an experienced Packaging Design Engineer to lead the rewarding product development effort in the military and industrial markets.  This person must be self-motivated, independent, project- and schedule-driven, and able to perform tasks with minimum supervision.

 

As a member of our talented engineering group you will:

 

Coordinate mechanical and packaging design activities in the development of new products and improvement of existing ones, incorporating electrical, optical and mechanical components in the products

 

Design and generate the drafting documents and solid modeling, using Solidwork or ProE

 

Interact with internal and external machine/tool shops to bring design concepts through prototyping to commercial production

 

Use state-of-the-art simulation software tools to perform thermal, structural, tolerance and failure mode analyses to ensure product quality and reliability

 

Manage revision logs of all mechanical drawing documents; work with electrical, manufacturing, and optical engineers on design reviews for product optimization; and conduct experiments to evaluate the thermal performance of the packaging design

 

Prepare proposals with clearly defined deliverables, resource requirements, cost estimates and milestone timelines

 

Manage the complete product development cycle from concept, design, prototyping, testing, to manufacturing

 

Prepare product technical documentation and application notes

 

Work as part of a cross-functional team to launch new products

 

Qualifications:

 

M.S or Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering, with minimum of five years product development experience.  In-depth knowledge of cooling strategies used at the package, board, and system level.  Expertise in electro-mechanical switches, tactile touchscreen LCD, and LED lighting products.  Familiarity with military requirements MIL-PRF-22885, optics, and electromechanical switch and pushbuttons is a plus. 

 

In addition, proven success in at least two product commercialization in the military, industrial or consumer electronics market is required; at least five years of experience using Solidwork, ProE, ANSYS CFD, Flotherm, SACS, COSMOS, Abaqus, Moldflow, Nastran, Algor, or other similar software tools; as well as experience using small tools to perform simple assembly tasks to quickly validate packaging design concepts.
