Senior Power Electronics Test Engineer

L-3 Communications SPD Electrical Systems, a local well-established manufacturing company located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has an immediate need for a Senior Power Electronics Test Engineer.

 Primary Job Duties
Develop test plans and design test circuits for evaluation and qualification testing of power electronic systems.
Perform both design evaluation and qualification testing of power electronic systems.
Perform analysis of test data and recommend design changes

 Other Job Functions
Verify designs through the use of power electronics system simulation tools (PSpice, Matlab, etc..)
Thoroughly document and explain test plans, results, and analysis to peer reviewers, internal and external customers
Participate/lead brainstorming sessions to create new products and technologies

 Requirements
BS degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in design and manufacturing of Power Electronics Equipment (10kW-300kW).  Multidisciplinary experience (power electronics, controls and power systems preferred)
Knowledge of power electronic system/sub system simulation tools such as PSpice, Matlab, EMTP based systems, etc..
Strong technical leadership abilities with good interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
Good writing skills (specifications, test reports, engineering analyses, etc)
Excellent organizational skills a must
High power (>500kW) and medium voltage (up to 38kV) experience a plus.
