Senior Product Engineer

 

 

StaffingMaster is currently assisting our client, Purolator Filters NA, in the search for a Senior Product Engineer. 

 

Purolator has been manufacturing, marketing and distributing filters since 1968. In fact, the first automotive oil filter was called a "Purolator". Today, the Purolator brand includes more than 2,000 part numbers for automotive, light truck and heavy duty applications.

 

Purolator's quality record speaks for itself. Two of the Big Three domestic automakers, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation, plus Mazda and Navistar, have all given significant quality awards to Purolator. In addition, all of the Purolator manufacturing plants are QS-9000 registered, the automotive equivalent to ISO-9000.

 

This position is located at the Fayetteville, NC facility.  Relocation assistance will be provided for a qualified candidate. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Product Engineer will be responsible for the product design and development of new product implementation for automotive and potential non-automotive filter applications.  Specific duties include:

 

?  Apply drafting and designing standard principles in creation and revision of CAD drawings.

?  Perform necessary and adequate engineering analysis of design systems and components using available analytical tools.

?  Design product that will meet OE customer specifications or perform on various applications in the aftermarket.

?  Redesign as required, to enhance processability, improve product performance, or reduce cost without sacrificing product integrity.

?  Review Make vs. Buy opportunities and design a ?Make? version is feasible. 

?  Write LSR?s and MSR?s to have prototypes built and tested in the model shop and test lab.

?  Work with QI Team relative to deviations, production problems, new product introductions, and advanced quality planning activities.

?  Work with purchasing and suppliers to approve alternate vendors or materials.

?  Work with customers and sales staff in support of developing new product.

?  Write, approve and process ECR?s for the release of new product or the revision of current product.

?  Assures employees are trained in and comply with Purolator?s TS16949 Management System and establish safety and environmental rules and regulations.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or related field required.  3-5 years? experience working as a Product Engineer or similar role.Strong knowledge of design and engineering software.Thorough knowledge of assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts and general business operations.  Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.  Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, suppliers, or members of the business community.  Ability to solve a wide range of difficult problems and also review internal and suppliers? root cause and corrective actions. Ability and desire to work in an open, team oriented environment.Demonstrated success handling multiple priorities and multi-tasking.
