Senior Program Manager, ChipSet
The Senior Program Manager will have the overall accountability for the ChipSet Development Program from concept through launch. You will be responsible for presenting issues, recommendations and updates to the Hospira Product Review Committee (HPRC), which consists of key Hospira decision makers, in regards to their programs. You will also assists in developing specific strategies for the ChipSet product platform. Other responsibilities will be to:
Develop and provide leadership to cross-functional teams by defining clear, realistic goals; clear barriers to ensure team progress, and facilitate rapid decision-making.
Lead the development of the business plan (and design and development plan, as needed) at each stage gate to present to the HPRC.
Manage and delegate resources in alignment with approved business plan. Foresee and directly handle project resource issues. Proactively raise personnel issues, such as performance, directly with functional management.
Utilize internal resources assigned by Electronic Systems VP and Core Engineering Director. Identify and fill gaps with external hires and contract engineers and scientists
Develop detailed project plan to meet Core Unit Goals for the program.
Work with the Strategic Marketing Manager to lead the Customer Inspired Design effort to define lead product requirements.
Assess the ChipSet sensor and contingency options vs. key requirements. Select the flow sensor technology for commercialization.
Establish and lead the system architecture effort. Include electronics, wireless, and software architectures.
Drive the scale up of the sensor fabrication process
Develop and maintain accurate project budgets and provide the information during the financial planning cycles as required.
Organize and facilitate effective meetings. Identify and delegate action items, follow-up/track action items to resolution, update project plans & deliverables, and as required identify issues and ultimately resolve issues off-line (to ensure effective meetings at all levels).
Demonstrate the ability to understand the skills and tasks associated with other functions.
Coordinate/audit product documentation to ensure compliance and quality of product is maintained.
To be successful in this position, you must possess:
Experience with product development processes - a minimum of 7 years as a Program Manager or two years experience as a Program Manager with 5 years as an Extended Team Member or Core Team Member, successfully leading at least one project from concept through launch.
Cross-functional experience in different areas such as Development, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Operations, medical, commercial, Clinical or Regulatory is preferred but not required.
Fundamental knowledge of functions as related to their particular program assignments is essential.
Demonstrated cross-functional leadership competencies (diligence, developing strategies, conflict-resolution, analysis, communication and political savvy) as well as project planning skills.
A Bachelor's Degree is a required; Masters Degree or Doctoral Degree are preferred. Formal Program Management training or certification preferred.
