Senior Project Engineer - Engine/Aftertreatment System Development

Requires use of advanced engineering/scientific techniques. Must plan, review and utilize ingenuity in implementing and executing assigned responsibilities.
Using analytical and experiemental procedures/techniques, the individual will be accountable for delivering the optimum design specifications and regerneration control calibrations for the complete diesel engine/aftertreatment system for 2010 International V & I engine platforms.
The individual will be required to exercise leadership, organization and ingenuity in obtaining solutions to new and complex problems.
B.S. Technical degree and 7 years engineering experience or M.S. and 5 years engineering experience or Ph.D. with thesis in strategic area.
Deliverables include:
1) Component and system design specifications by working with Suppliers (e.g. substrate, catalyst washcoat, tube/canner, electronic controls/sensors) and Customers (Internal-Program & External-Vehicle);
2) Calibrations supported by dynamometer & in-vehicle data, demonstrating emissions compliance, optimum fuel economy, and acceptable product durability.
3) Supporting/meeting overall plan, program milestones and budget.
Individual is accountable to execute the plan with the resources available. Test work will involve utilizing electronic controls calibrating tools (e.g. DSPACE, INCA), and will require an understanding of engines, aftertreatment, and vehicles in order to determine issues and fixes.
Work will require communications with internal & external suppliers and customers both at International and at other sites.
