Eaton Corporation located in Horseheads, NY has an opening for a Senior Quality Engineer.
Our facility is a manufacturing operation with a community of shared technical experience and resources. Specialists in design and electrical engineering, physics, and computer technologies continually develop new concepts, materials and processes. All of their efforts are dedicated toward advancing the science of vacuum interruption. We offer a full line of vacuum interrupters to meet our customer's needs around the world. Our broad line of vacuum interrupters has been designed using many different contact materials.

Job Responsibilities:
-Coordinate resources within the QA function to adequately complete tasks required for proper execution and control of established Quality Assurance processes.

Duties Include:
-Ensure all customer returns and related customer issues are analyzed, reported and followed up (with corrective action) in a timely manner
-Ensure that all in-process quality-control procedures (inspections, audits, holds, rejections) are carried out and followed up with corrective action.
-Oversee CQM process at Horseheads.
-Assure that responses are generated in a timely manner
-Implement and oversee Eaton Quality System - MSA, PFMEA, Control Plans.
-Perform root cause analysis on re-occurring scrap, determine and implement corrective/preventive actions.
-Support all EHS functions, including ESP and ISO14001
-Plan and execute regular quality surveillance activities: life testing, materials verifications, interruption testing, ceramic pull testing, hammer testing, etc.
-Manage calibrations system and provide operational interface with calibrations contractors, arrange testing and coordinate analysis of bellows lot qualification process,address unsafe conditions, and hazards and evaluate the ensuing correction(s).

Additional information:
-This position requires a great deal of interface with other functions within the plant as well as customers and suppliers. Communication skills must be suitable to deal effectively and constructively with all parties, in sometimes very difficult situations.
-A good understanding of the manufacturing processes is key to being effective in this position. Problem solving skills, including root-cause analysis are very important. Six-Sigma greenbelt certification will be a 1st year objective.
-The engineer will have additional responsibility for customer related issues. This will include root cause analysis of customer returned product. The engineer will facilitate preventive & corrective actions with the design, manufacturing and marketing groups.
