Major Purpose:

 

Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of broad scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project. Operates in a team environment and may act as lead person, providing technical leadership and design solutions. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to other engineers and support personnel. Provides technical consultation and a knowledge base. Recognized as an expert across a product line.

 

Major Duties:Expert user of critical technology. Develops new applications of technology for product development. Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of moderate scope. Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications together with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. Provides technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations. Develops and/or executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation. Leads in resolution of product-line based difficult technical issues whether within the company or with outside suppliers.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:Perform and lead the system integration of technologies related to vehicle safeguarding of intelligent mobile equipment as related to the products and services of our company. Serve as an expert in the area of machine perception systems to enhance vehicle safeguarding.Capture and management requirements of the role of intelligent mobile equipment in various systems. Develop tools and skills to engineer highly complex systems. Work with business units and communities of practice. To identify, select and deploy alternative architectures and solutions.Use system engineering principles to evaluate and provide design direction for improved product cost, quality and performance.Develop and/or execute product verification and validation activities (design analysis, simulation, lab tests, etc.). 
 

 

QualificationsMinimum of MS degree in an appropriate engineering, science or technology field. Demonstrate expertise in the design and analysis of perception sensing systems for off-road vehicles including agricultural, construction, forestry, utility vehicles, and lawn and garden equipment. Advanced coursework in systems design and analysis.2 years of engineering experience with mobile equipment.

 

Desired:Undergraduate degree in field robotics or a relevant technical field. Industry experiences with systems design. Software tools experience with relevant e-tools for effective systems engineering, (Caliber, C/C++, Rational Rose RT, MATLAB, DSpace).


Skills Technical skill and knowledge in a specialized area of engineering such as: design, analysis, test & evaluation. Skill in using company information systems and processes. Knowledge of the product development process. Recognized as expert in engineering outside of the company and has developed global network in area of expertise. Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to the company product.Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit. Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors.


Experience Engineering experience. Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems. Product engineering experience. Product design experience. Work experience in specific area of specialization or expertise such as Hydraulic systems, electronic circuits, rigid body dynamics, power transmission, drive systems. Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases. Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems.
