Senior Server Software Engineer

Wireless Matrix, a $30 million publicly held, profitable and growing wireless communications company, provides end-to-end solutions for remote management resources including automated business process application software, broadband wireless data networks, and specialized devices. We are based in the Washington DC area with offices in Vancouver, British Columbia. We also recently acquired a company in Mountain View, Ca, which this position will be based out of. We are traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol WRX.

 

As a designer and implementer of our next generation Java-based product running on Windows/Linux addressing the in-vehicle mobile resource management market, you'll have significant impact in the growth of the company.  This is a hands-on position, which requires great design and coding skills in revamping the GUI and Portal of the Server System, as well as maintaining the existing software infrastructures in accepting messages from mobile GPS units. You?ll collaborate with the Client Team (running WinCE) and QA and Operations Teams to deliver a world-class Mobile Resources Management Solution utilizing GPS, wireless communications (CDMA/EVDO/GPRS, Satellite, WiFi, Bluetooth), Java Server, JMS.  This is an individual contributor position.

 

 Must-have skills and experience: BS CS with 5 years of full-time work experience.MS a plus.At least 5 years of professional software development experience in Java (at least 3) or C++.Must have at least 3 years full-time experience in development in Java. Experience in J2EE/EJB, JMS, ESB, AJAX, Oracle and Web experience preferred.Must have a full-life cycle development experience with at least one commercial software product. Must have application and GUI development experience in Windows and Unix/Linux.Must have development experience in network software (socket programming), DBMS, multi-process/multi-thread applications Strong trouble-shooting skills  in a complex system Good communications skills Must be a team player

 

Additional Plus  (ideally at least 2 out of 4):Development in a complex, distributed, scalable, networked systems with near real-time requirements. Domain knowledge in GPS , Automotive technology, vehicle location or location-based system, or experience with wireless communications modems such as CDMA, GPRS, SatelliteExperience in XML/SOAP or Web servicesNear network admin level of expertise in trouble-shooting system or network issues. Understanding of internetworking such asPPP, VPN.
