Job Description:
The Senior Structural Steel Construction Engineer will perform the following tasks:

Review complex bridge erection plans including the jacking of an existing steel truss under partial live loading, Review design submittal package for constructability, Review welding submittals for compliance with AWS D1.5 [Bridge] Welding code.

Analyze and determine deflections on a steel truss bridge, stringers, and floorbeams during sequenced casting operations, Resolve structural steel field fit-up problems, Be able to inspect work being performed during erection on elevated surfaces including but not limited to crane hoisted personnel cages, Be able to effectively communicate with the Owner and the Contractor / Designer.



Job Qualifications:
Best qualified candidates shall possess the following technical knowledge and work experience: 10 years extensive design experience in structural steel bridges, 10 years background in the fabrication and/or erection of steel truss bridges, 10 years background in the review of structural steel shop drawings.

Be able to interpret and apply AWS D1.5 [Bridge] welding code, Working knowledge of the means & methods of steel bridge fabrication, and erection, Designed or reviewed steel bridge jacking plans involving the use of multiple jack systems & related monitoring devices, Have extensive experience in resolving field fit-up problems on steel truss bridges, Have experience operating surveying instruments including self leveling levels and total station machines.
