Senior Systems Engineer (DoD / NSA)

Description: 
Senior System Security Engineer will perform systems engineering tasks in the areas of Information Assurance (IA) and Information Security (IS). Candidate must have experience in systems security engineering, including the ability to perform system requirements and design, evaluation and
certification for embedded security devices within communications and navigation equipment.
Experience with Common Criteria Certification for a high grade system and/or National
Security Agency (NSA) Type 1 certification experience is also necessary.

Candidate must have experience with the NSA?s Waveform Software Security Report (WSSR) and/or Theory of Design Operation (TDO), Theory of Compliance (TOC), Information Flow Analysis, Key 
Management Plan (KMP), Key Specification, and Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) Plan &
Report. This experience will be necessary to ensure that the proper design and analysis is
performed to receive NSA certification for waveforms, cryptographic devices and/or systems embedding cryptographic devices.

The candidate will be responsible for reviewing, writing and evaluating all types of security related papers
and documentation required for product certification. Candidate must have excellent 
written and oral communication skills along with teamwork skills and will be responsible for working with a results-oriented team of other highly skilled professional engineers involved in the implementation of security solutions that will be embedded in Government Systems products. Additionally, this candidate will help to ensure that the system security requirements are correctly implemented into the overall system architecture and will help oversee security related testing for the system. The candidate must also be able to interface with software engineers, hardware engineers and ASIC engineers during the design,
implementation and integration phases. 
Candidate will also be involved with briefing and interfacing directly with other company business areas, external customers as well as the NSA on a variety of design and security related issues.

The ideal candidate must have the following demonstrated skills:

1) Experience in areas of systems security, Information Assurance, Communication Security, 
Computer Security, Transmission Security, Key Management and Cryptography.

2) Experience in the analysis and design required to ensure a product can be designed in such a way that it will receive an NSA certification for a cryptographic application.

3) Experience with the NSA?s Waveform Software Security Report (WSSR) and/or Theory of Design Operation (TDO), Theory of Compliance (TOC), Information Flow Analysis, Key Management Plan (KMP), Key Specification, and Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) Plan & Report.

4) Experience in interfacing with and making presentations to management, outside vendors and agencies (such as NSA) on a variety of information security related issues.

5) Knowledge of NSA Type 1 certification and/or Common Criteria (Level 5 and above) certification processes.

6) Experience in using Clearcase for configuration control, Clearquest for defect tracking and
DOORS for requirements capture.

7) Knowledge of system security requirements and systems architectural skills with functional 
decomposition, subsystem interface definition, technology application and analysis.

8) Strong writing skills necessary to produce documentation required for security certification evaluation.

Qualifications T-3 requires an undergraduate degree in applicable engineering or science field or equivalent with demonstrated high academic and/or job performance and a minimum of 4 years (normally 5-8 years) of specifically related experience or graduate degree in applicable engineering or science field or 
equivalent with demonstrated high academic and/or job performance and a minimum of 2 years
(normally 3-6 years) of specifically related experience. T-4 requires an undergraduate degree in applicable engineering or science field or equivalent with demonstrated high academic and/or job performance and a minimum of 6 years (normally 9-12 years) of appropriate experience or graduate degree in applicable
engineering or science field or equivalent with demonstrated high academic and/or job
performance and a minimum of 4 years (normally 7-10 years) of directly related experience. T-5
requires an undergraduate degree in applicable engineering or science field or equivalent with
demonstrated high academic and/or job performance and a minimum of 8 years (normally 13-17 years) of appropriate experience or graduate degree in applicable engineering or science field or equivalent with demonstrated high academic and/or job performance and a minimum of 6 years (normally 11-15 years) of 
directly related experience.
