Ingersoll Rand Climate Control Technologies Sector is seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer - Compressors our Minneapolis, MN location.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Position is responsible for compressor test cell improvements and test equipment upgrades or acquisition. Develops new testing methodologies with the objective of measuring product performance and reliability. Develop ways to summarize and present test data to engineers. Work with compressor design engineers to decide which tests need to be run and recommend alternatives in order to grant high product reliability standards at product release time. Designs and develops complete testing procedures for compressor products/systems/components. Provides technical leadership to the Testing and Design group. Participates in DFMEA of new or revised products and components.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage projects in support of test cell improvements, new test equipment acquisitions, and upgrades to existing test equipment.

Develop Test Plans in support of product design programs, product improvements, reliability, and VA/VE initiatives. Manage the timely completion of tests according to Test Plans.

Provide support to Lab Techncians for the timely and accurate execution of testing according to plans. Advise on the collection and management of test data.

Develop and conduct compressor reliability testing in support of Reliability Programs for products and components.

Act as a compressor consultant for Product Managers and as a technical mentor/advisor to Engineers.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Position requires familiarity with refrigeration compressor testing techniques.

Familiarity with compressor testing/measuring devices is a must (Calorimeters / Endurance).

Understaing of compressor performance principals (i.e. High Load, Start / Stop, Max Flow, Flooded Liquid Start)

Experience with effectively communicating and colaborating with Engineering Department and thorough knowledge of project management techniques.

BSME/BSEE or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years experience in a Test Engineering role.

PE registration or MS in Engineering is desirable.

Technical familiarity with the transport refrigeration industry a plus.
