Sensor Technology Leader

CITY: Bradenton STATE: Florida COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
*Provide technical & project management leadership for new & sustaining products.

*Direct projects to on time, on budget delivery with six sigma quality

*Select, develop & motivate a qualified staff to effectively carry out department functions & provide for the continuity of managerial & specialized skills.

*Evaluate & introduce lean development methodologies to improve efficiency, standardization & the safeguard of intellectual property.

*Collaborate with Product Management to develop new NPIs that provide opportunities for critical growth in multiple markets & industries

*Conduct program reviews, communicate & enforce standards across the business.

*Leverage & manage low cost resource options, manage & work with remote teams to ensure consistency, compliance & project success.

*Contribute to & communicate the technical vision & strategy for sensors, ensuring that the entire team in multiple sites is educated & energized.

*Participate in voice of the customer sessions & keep abreast of customer needs & concerns.

*Coach, recognize & appraise staff performance effectively. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis & in accordance with company policy. Make recommendations for salary adjustments & other compensation & awards.

*Use judgment & experience to keep projects on track, make trade off decisions regarding risk, quality, schedules, resources, etc.

*Establish & communicate project schedules, resource & contingency plans.

*Drive integration of the sensor NPIs across the panel & software platforms of GE Security

*Lead efforts to keep abreast of leading edge technology in the sensor space.

*Keep abreast of New Technologies that could affect the Fire, Educational, Access, & Healthcare spaces

*Drive a compliance driven culture throughout the engineering team

*Drive a Lean Six Sigma culture to reduce cycle times for NPIs

*Leverage Global Research Centers to speed New Technology Introduction

Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering [Double EE Preferred], Physics, or related field.

* 8 or more years experience as a design Engineer

* 5 or more years experience managing & leading technical professionals

* 5 or more years experience managing large new product introduction projects & development teams.

* Experience with UL268 and UL268A; Fire Detectors

* MEMS and Nano-technology experience a plus

* Demonstrated experience in the development of multi-generational products

* Proven track record of delivering on commitments.

* Action oriented - takes responsibility for decisions, actions & results.

* Ability to work in a diverse global environment, influencing & cooperating with multiple teams simultaneously.

* Open & candid communication skills; ability to build trust & inspire others
