Site Construction Engineer- Radar Towers (Japan)

Job Description: The Forward Based X-Band (FBX) Radar Program is a turnkey project for the Missile Defense Agency and is being deployed overseas as part of the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems. As our Team Leader-Field Engineering, you will work in the capacity of Site Construction Engineer on FBX-T in Japan and other projects. You will provide quality assurance oversight over our sub-contactors and our site personnel during the facilities construction phase of a FBX-T site. You will document in a contemporaneous manner any and all activity on site during the complete course of the project. Through established procedures (Site Construction Engineers Handbook) and/or other verbal and written communication means you will ensure that the contractor's construction product is in compliance with contract documents. While representing our Program Offices in Burlington, MA, it may be anticipated that throughout the year, you will be away from your home of record up to 100% on travel at various construction sites, although you may spend long periods of time (up to six months) at individual sites both abroad in the US. The initial assignment will be in the Aomori Prefecture of Japan.




Required Skills: To be a candidate for a Site Construction Engineer, you must have at least 2 years experience as a Construction Engineer or Supervisor in the general construction field, including new facility construction, upgrades of existing facilities, and other related construction work. You should have the willingness and ability to be away from your home of record up to 100% on travel at various construction sites, although you may spend long periods of time (up to six months) at individual sites both abroad in the US. Due to time zone differences between the United States and Japan, the candidate should be fully capable of independent work and practicing sound engineering judgment with limited daily contact with manager. You should have a good understanding of standard practices in the construction industry and a strong familiarity with basic building code requirements. You should have experience overseeing trade subcontractors and managing construction schedules. You should have experience working with engineering and architectural drawings and specifications to manage and approve work . You should have the ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment, and have good project management skills, so as to manage projects and project team members such as subcontractors, employees and design team members. You must have good written and oral skills as well as experience with MS Office products. You must have a current Secret security clearance or had one in the last 24 months in order to activate one quickly.


Desired Skills: Some Japanese language skills and cultural knowledge desired. A good understanding of steel erection, advanced electrical and mechanical systems, including switchgear, backup generators, cooling equipment, air handling units, security monitoring systems, and fire detection/suppression systems is desired. Prior airport construction/radar site construction experience and/or prior federal government contract experience is desired.



Required Education: You should have a Bachelors Degree in a technical field, or the equivalent additional years of experience in the Construction field.
