Six Sigma:

 

Six Sigma is a consolidated process improvement approach based on industrial and economic work done throughout the 20th century.  The approach is characterized by strict focus on data-based decision making and methodical problem solving.  The approach has been used successfully in many companies, including General Electric and Motorola and can be applied to a wide range of technical and non-technical applications.

 

New Project Managers are brought up to speed on the company and on Six Sigma through formal training and short operational assignments to increase their effectiveness executing projects.  Following initial training, they begin to assemble portfolios of projects to deliver a share of the overall benefit target.  Project managers have as their sole objective delivery of benefits through project execution.

 

Qualifications:

 Bachelor?s degree in Engineering, Science, Finance or other analytical field  Highly intelligent with strong analytical skills Ability to learn technical and statistical concepts quickly Ability to manage multiple project priorities independently and with little supervision Experience managing organizational change Demonstrated ability to take projects from idea to implementation and benefits realization Experience managing or working with large groups of hourly workers Experience applying a structured problem solving approach Strong Leadership skill, particularly related to leading in technical settings
