Software Applications Engineer

 

In this position, you will work in the field of C Code Generation for production embedded controllers with dSPACE?s Automatic Code Generator, TargetLink.  You will provide technical support to dSPACE customers using TargetLink, and work on engineering projects involving the integration and use of TargetLink.  You will be interacting primarily with software and controls engineers who have to produce C code from Simulink/TargetLink algorithm models for usage in production embedded controllers.  This position requires experience in both the Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow environment and in software engineering methods, specifically with C.  The ideal candidate should have a software engineering background, with exposure to Model-Based controls development.  You can expect the following tasks:

 Assisting customers with TargetLink usageWork with floating and fixed-point models: datatype, scaling, integration with legacy code, data managementDebug customer problemsCreate Matlab m-scripts for customers to integrate TargetLink and automate certain tasksEvaluate customer models for TargetLink applicationWork with compilers, debuggers, microcontrollersCreate examples for specific features

 

 

As an Applications Engineer, you will also assist in customer training activities and participate in the sales process by performing product demonstrations and presentations.

 

 

Requirements

 Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer SciencePrior experience in automotive or other industry, preferably in software engineeringStrong C coding experience, preferably in projects for production embedded controllersGood knowledge of fixed-point math, and implementation in C codeExperience with Matlab and SimulinkExperience with Microcontrollers preferred: integrating and building software, flashing, debugging Knowledge of control systems a plusGood problem-solving ability, ability to debug technical issues Good communication skillsAbility to travel, both domestically and occasionally to Germany
