Software Architect

Job Summary: Engineering position in GE Transportation, I-Based Team. Working in an applications and wireless solutions engineering development group for growth products for the locomotive market. Products include LocoCAM (Digital Video Recorder), PinPoint (GPS Asset Tracking), ERED (Event Recorder Data Download) and LocoCOMM (Satellite, Wifi, and GPS communication platform). Engineers are involved in the complete design cycle - customer requirements, concept design, detail design, validation, supplier qualification, and field support. System includes multimode wireless communications, PC electronics, embedded software, custom mechanical packaging and IT interfaces. Essential Functions: Responsible for defining Software Architecture for a QNX OS based software implementation for an on-locomotive video, audio, data collection and communications subsystem.. Responsible for software implementation guidelines, software performance measurement tools and processes, software architecture, design and code review processes, and test tool selection. Responsible for working with software team during design, implementation, and validation to ensure software performance requirements met. Responsible for working with systems engineers during design, implementation, and validation to ensure functional requirements met.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Basic Quals: A. BS Software Engineering or BS Computer Science required. B. A minimum of three years software engineering in QNX OS based application or communications development. C. A minimum of one year architectural and design experience in mission critical or high availability software systems. Eligibility Requirements: A.
