Software Design Engineer

1.  Summary

 

This person must be a motivated self-starter with strong technical skills and ability in embedded system software development focusing on wireless communication systems under multi-task and tight work environment. The person also works in both Windows and Linux (or cygwin) environments to develop embedded software. Must have good communication skills and be strong team player. Experienced for 3-5 years with BSEE at minimum.

 

2.  Responsibilities

 

Software design from concept to technology transfer including:

? Analysis, definition and formal documentation of software and firmware requirements

? System concept, high level and detailed software and firmware design

? Analysis, design and implementation of software mechanisms to improve code stability, improve performance, and reduce footprint, software quality and modularity/flexibility

? Analysis and communication of internal and external customer needs

? Developing and executing product development plans and schedules

? Support system/hardware engineering teams

? Resolving critical/complex technical problems

 

3.  Critical Skills, Experience and Education

Required:

? Highly proficient in C/C++

? Experience in embedded software development

? Experience in using real time operating systems such as VxWorks, Nucleus, Threadx or similar

? Knowledge of real-time coding needed.

? Highly proficient in core Computer Science/Engineering concepts

? Proficient with debug tools such as: Oscilloscopes and Logic Analyzers

? Experience in whole software system (GUI, driver, and firmware ) development

? Able to work directly with electrical engineers in debugging

 

 

Highly Desired:

? Understand Basic TCP/IP principles and mobile data transmission / reception techniques

? Experience with Atmel AVR or other microcontrollers

? Experience with porting applications between architectures

? Experience with various wired protocols: UART, SPI, PCI, 1394, USB etc.

? Experience with various wireless protocols: Bluetooth, 802.15.4, UWB, 802.11, CDMA, GSM etc.

? Proficient in various scripting languages: bash, perl, python, etc.
