Software Developer

Under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering, reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support proprietary software for commercial wireless security applications. Gathers requirements from marketing generated commercial specification and creates Eng. specifications and develops code. Designs and writes code to support existing software. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures using SQL, C++, C# and .NET. In addition coding in visual basic with an access database. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of programming & engineering related tasks. This person should have experience shipping a product through all phases of the development cycle, and assembly or C coding with microprocessor embedded technologies and products.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Performs programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming procedures and database processing requirements.  Including windows component object modeling (COM), source code revision control (Microsoft safe), and program deployment strategies.

2.  Refines code so data and formats of final product are very similar to the input or is well defined when significantly different. This includes regression testing as defined in the Alpha and Beta process.

3.  Maintains and modifies microprocessor embedded programs; makes approved changes by amending flow charts, developing detailed programming logic, and coding changes.

4.  Tests and develops all modifications and writes operational instructions for an ISO environment.

5.  Writes new program code using prescribed specifications, as appropriate.

6.  Evaluates simple interrelationships between programs, i.e.; whether a contemplated change in one part of a program would cause unwanted results in a related part.

7.  Provides level 3-support & problem resolution for field service technicians. Take action to correct deficiencies. Travel on site support based on consultation with users & approval of Director of Engineering.

8.  Confers with Eng. Director to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs.

9.  Uses judgment in selecting solutions and seeks assistance when significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.

10. Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.

11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor?s Degree (CS or EE) with 2 ? 3 year of directly related experience. Microsoft Certification & wireless experience would be a bonus.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Position requires: a) generate & following specifications; b) maintaining & modifying existing programs; c) making approved changes to flow charts & coding; d) evaluating simple interrelationships between programs, & e) developing test plans to meet ISO quality procedures.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS  

? Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment with ISO quality plan.
