The North America Software Engineering Team is responsible for developing and delivering industry leading Application, Automation, Infrastructure and Data Management solutions for the NanoElectronics, NanoResearch, NanoBiology, and NanoIndustry product divisions.

 

The Position

 

Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager for North America, the Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, integration, troubleshooting and debug of software programs for software enhancements and new products.  Target applications include high performance imaging and analysis systems used in Semiconductor, Data Storage and MEMS laboratory and fabrication environments with an emphasis on Application, Automation, User Interface and Infrastructure development.

 

Specific Deliverables associated with this opportunity include:

 

Learn the architecture of lab and fab systems for applicable market segments.

 

Develop application, middleware and GUI software in support of FEI?s lab and fab product platforms.

 

Development of Automated Software Solutions and Infrastructure.

 

Write detailed software specifications based on system performance requirements and customer application requirements.  Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. 

 

Architect designs based on a full comprehension of the function, purpose and application of the product.

 

Make practical development choices given limited design information and defined delivery schedules.

 

Act as the authoritative owner of multiple functional characteristics and/or modules of the specified software application.

 

Responsible for the coding of feature set developments for product enhancement and new applications.

 

Conduct bug fixing on existing issues through software implementation, development of test methodologies and performing unit tests.

 

 

The Requirements

 

The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary technical environment to solve complex technical problems.  If you enjoy the development of high-performance integrated systems, this is an excellent opportunity.  The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

 

BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.  An advanced degree is not required but is a plus.

 

Minimum of 5 years software development experience.  Preference for development experience with highly-integrated, high-performance systems used in semiconductor capital equipment or related industries. 

 

Must demonstrate clear ability to develop effective integration software for complex, high-performance subsystems and components (3 years experience required). 

 

Excellent interpersonal communications skills are required due to the high degree of interaction and collaboration across functional groups.

 

Eligible for passport and able to travel.
